about $500 I think but they'll only ask for a liver scan if your results are really high.

Hi,
We were only given one year on our visa last June so we have just sent our new forms off to img. However the meds last for two years but as a result of husbands high liver test he needed to have them done again last week.

Its just all money really, but they come back fine so fingers crossed they are giving more than a year at a time now.

Anyway don't worry I have heard this happens alot take care.

HI KazUK - My OH's GTT was 109!!! (upper limit 40) he had 3 retests in a 5mth period MA requested that he see a hepatologist who performed a whole range of tests and concluded that despite the high GTT there was nothing wrong with his liver.
We got our PR approved 4weeks later! and fly out on June 14th.

The whole process set us back 6mths and I had a job offer withdrawn because of the delay. Nevertheless we never gave up and I now start my new job in Cardiovascular / diabetes research on the 5th July.

Don't give up just be prepared to be jump through all the hoops. wishing you all the best and

I got my results in the post
the 2 i screwed up on were

AST = 98 (should have been max 37!!!)
ALT was 44 (should have been 41 max)

Every time i call the centre up for advice they tell me to stop drinking. Its so annoying

Also when i was so nervous before the first blood test my blood pressure went up to 141
When they retook the Blood pressure after the blood test it was down to 120, which is normal

So now i have to redo the 2 liver tests and Hep C - not looking forward to it

Hope NZ immigration dont think i'm messed up!

As per the link BEVS posted, we had the same issue.

Hubby had high levels, cut out drinking, drank cranberry juice, took milk thistle extract etc for weeks, took the test again and results were higher!

Referred to the MA who requested an ultra sound scan - had this done on the NHS with a referral from GP so no cost implications, all came back normal.

MA then asked for a specialist report from a Gastroenterologist with suspected cause, could have got a GP referral FOC but due to time constraints we found a local private clinic.
Specialist looked at all existing results, examined hubby which involved pressing his liver through his tummy and looking in his eyes, then issued a report stating no long term prognosis, basically mild fatty liver which almost half of the population has! Cost approx £125.

MA happy with the report and signed his med off, WTR granted!

So no - in most cases it wont stop you being granted a visa, you just need to prove you wont be a burden on the NZ health system.

Oh and I wouldn't think a little bit of chocolate would cause the fluctuating levels, don't deprive yourself!

Good Luck - feel free to PM me if you want any more info

I feel a Dr Who moment coming on.

Did the liver return to the tummy after the event?
