Default Hi Cholesteral

Hi
My Cholesteral was slightly higher than the guidelines.
Does anyone know if this may hinder our chances of getting in?
Would they refer this to a medical examiner?

Hi & welcome to the forum!

Not sure about the guidelines as we haven't done our medical assessments yet, I guess it depends on how much higher the figures are? I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. In the meantime some porridge would not be amiss, most of us are on the stuff for various reasons

Do they definitely test for Cholesterol in the medical.

My wife and I got our results back last week, and no mention of it?

I think it may just be a discretionary test where BMI is over 35 ?

Dont think it is standard.
My waist was 1/2 inch under being too fat
Also my docotor noticed a small lump on my eyelid, which he thought may be down to high cholesteral, so asked for a test.

Hi Chris,

Fasting lipids have to be checked if BMI over 35 or waist over the limit. It is at the doctors discretionary in other cases.

Someone asked about levels, you should be aiming to get your cholestrol levels under 5. Go to the chemist and get it checked now. If they are over, speak with the pharmacist and buy simvastatin over the counter to drop the levels.

If you are over their limit they will refer you to the MA

Did somebody say PORRIDGE?!? Beat me to it Kija!

In all honesty, I missed my lunchtime bowl yesterday and substituted it with a regular meal - I found I was absolutely starving by the time I got home! Porridge truly is a wonder food and the only hope of salvation for anyone trying to get to the promised land of the long white cloud*!

*may be an UNTRUTH

Hi and welcome, if your medical blood results showed your cholesterol was over the recommended level then you may well be asked to lower it before they accept your medical results. If this is just a random test done through GP, if your BMI is less than 35 and your waist measurement is within the limits (can't remember what it is now but someone on here will know) then you will not need to have your cholesterol checked when you have your immigration medical. Hope that makes sense Good luck, Bevissa
