health questions

Hi me, oh and 3 girls are moving in 3 months to nelson :)
my sister wants to join us in around 2 years but im not sure if she would pass the health check as she has MS, it is thank god a very slow progressive form, but im not sure if she will be allowed to apply because of it.
If any one has had any similar issues, or info it would be great to hear from you.
thanx jen

Re: health questions

I feel you are right to be concerned about the health check.

NZIS have this to say.

A4.10.1 Medical conditions deemed to impose significant costs and/or demands on New Zealand's health and/or education services.....

Central Nervous System disease, including motor neurone disease, complex partial seizures, poorly controlled epilepsy, prion disease, Alzheimer's and other dementia, and including paraplegia and quadriplegia

She would be up against it to prove that her MS wouldn't impose significant costs to the NZ healthcare system.

However, you say there is a slow progressive form. In her position I would seriously consider hiring a quality Immigration Lawyer/Consultant who couldl be candid about her chances. If she were to apply, then she would need to start arming herself with specialist reports etc.

Lane Neave have a good rep .

thankyou for that, i will pass on to my sister.
sounds so complicated!! I was hoping that there would be a more simple condition that you would have to prove that you had private medical insurance to cover costs, but hay ho whats not worth trying for isnt worth having :)

I know jen.g . Private Health cover doesn't wash with NZIS at all and I suppose that's because it could perhaps lapse at any time, leaving NZ to pick up the tab.

I wish you and your sister all the luck. Please do keep us updated.
