Grateful for help!! Not on skills shortage list and no job

Hi everyone,

I have done a self-assessment for points and think I have 130 but don't have a job offer and am not on any skills shortage list, and neither is my husband. We are desperate to move to New Zealand (particularly as we live 4 hours apart and hate our jobs!) and were just about to fill out the expression of interest form having done lots of research.

However, I've just noticed that from the last set of fortnightly selection statistics under the skilled migrant category that the only expressions of interest selected with no job or job offer included points for work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage which we neither of us have. To make it worse I am only 31 so just miss out on the under 30 working visa and the Silver Fern option is full. My husband is older!

I would be really grateful if someone could advise whether it is worth completing the EOI at all? Do people get in without a job and not on the skills shortage list?

Many thanks

Claire
