Getting Started - Is it worth it ?

Hi Guys n Gals, just thought I'd see if anyone can help me and point me in the right direction.

I'm currently looking at making the move to NZ with my wife. I'm 42yrs old and I've worked in IT for 10ys + specialise in network security and voip. I'm CISSP and Cisco certified not sure how much weight that carries if any, but don't have a degree of any sorts.

From what I gather I need to submit an EOI but am struggling to find what\where I get my skills assessed, do I need to do that first?

I've also been told it's easier to go for a work to residency permit but I think I need a job for that first?
I've also got my mother and brother both living in NZ, both as perm residency and I believe full citizens now, does that make any difference?

Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Cheers for any help as I blunder my way round this :-/

Check out the family stream on the NZIS website, depending on their status and length of time held etc they may be ab le to sponsor you IIRC...

Cheers Si, I think i've taken a quick look at that and it appears to be an 18-24month waiting time

It looks like I should be able to go via the skilled migrant route, but I'm still trying to work out how\IF I need to get my skills assesed.

They dont like to make things simple and straight forward do they lol

I thought I had read that you need a degree for IT.

We do have IT folks on here. I'd suggest starting a new thread in the main NZ forum about this. Simply head it up as What IT quals are acceptable for points or similar.
