EOI submitted. Will it give automatic PR
 

Hi there, I have just submitted my EOI today (11/07/11) I have according to the status 180 points. Will this automatically allow me residency and I see the pool is selected every two weeks. When is the next selection? After the pool is selected what happens next?

No. A pull from the EOI pool does not automatically allow you residency.

With 180 points your EOI will be automatically pulled from the EOI pool for preliminary checks of the information you have supplied online. If NZIS are happy with what they see, they will then send you what is called an Invitation To Apply. This is where you will prove the info you supplied on the EOI with hard copy evidence.

This will include evidence of relationship ; qualifications; work experience etc At this point you also submit the police checks and medicals.

NZIS will go through all this paperwork and if they are happy enough, they will then offer you a residents visa or perhaps a work to residence visa if you have no job offer.

I have a question. May be you think it stupid :)

If I am not able to get job offer and I get at least Work to Residence Visa then NZ authority will allow me to stay 9 months, so far I remember.

If in case, till 9 months I even cannot manage job offer, then is it possible to appeal for extending the Work to Residence visa period to keep searching jobs?

How could you score 180? if I havent done my points calculation erroneously then mine is 110. I got my Bachelors and masters in IT. I got work experience of 6+ yrs in IT.

as I said: I am/I got

Age 28
Bachelors: Computer Science
Masters : Computer Information Systems
No Education in NZ
IELTS : 6.5 ( combined in GT)
Spouse: None.
work Experience in different fields of IT: 6 yrs.

This is how I have selected the points for me:

Skilled Employment

1. Not living/Never lived in NZ, So the selection is NO.
2. Not living/Never lived in NZ, So the selection is NO.
3. No Job offer. Selection is NO.
4. (i) My Current work in my country is listed in NZ's Future growth areas. I have worked in different fields of Information Technology for the past 6 yrs in my home country. Selection should be YES or NO?

My confusion : Here, Has NZ Immigration asked for work experience/current work in this category in NZ or its fine if they were/are being performed in my home/another country.

4. (ii) All my previous and current jobs in my 'home country' are listed in the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL). Selection should be YES or NO?

My Confusion: How to know/determine if my Masters degree is recognized or not? Should I apply for EOI and wait for the authority to ask me for assessment/recognition? Please clarify.

Remember I have worked in the field of Information and Communication Technology and of course the future growth area has these fields, biotechnology, information communications technology, and creative industries. SELECTION: 6 yrs ( still confused)

(ii) areas of absolute skills shortage ?
These are listed on the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL). I have worked at least 3 of the occupations listed in Long Term Skill Shortage List (INZ 1093) PDF. but still in dilemma, have they asked for NZ's experience or experience outside NZ? Selection: 6 yrs ( still confused)

4. Was the work experience gained in a comparable labour market or an area of absolute skills shortage?
: Not in Labor Market but in an area of absolute skill shortage list outside NZ. So my SELECTION is: YES

Age : 20-29 yrs

Other Family : NONE

Partner : NONE

What are the different fields of IT? And What are your designations in your past and present jobs? Do you know, those designations match exactly your job responsibilities?


From which university you studied in B.Sc. Computer Science and Masters in Computer Information Systems and under which country?

(There are some countries listed in the immigration site where it is mentioned that some university degrees are exempted from NZQA qualification Assessment (PAR/IQA) and awarded from certain year. So, you can take advantage from that if your B.Sc. Degree fall under this condition.)

it says: SM13.10 Work experience in an identified future growth area

Recognised work experience in an identified future growth area qualifies for points if:

the principal applicant has points for current skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment in an identified future growth area (see SM8.10); and
the experience is relevant to that employment (see SM7.10.10).
SM13.10.1 Evidence
Recognised work experience in an identified future growth area only qualifies for bonus points if the principal applicant provides evidence that satisfies an immigration officer that their work experience meets the requirements of SM13.10 above.

I DON'T SEE IT HAS TO BE IN NZ. CAN YOU FIND IT THAT, Recognised work experience in an identified future growth area has to be in NZ? my point would go further higher if I could get yes in this factor

Sorry for the delay in a reply. I have been puzzling about this one a little as I thought there was a way to actually extend but I now can't find that on the NZIS website so perhaps policy changed.

What I have seen is a relatively new 'Interim Visa'. which came into effect last February 2011.

The thing with the WTR under SMC is that it is essentially a job search visa. It's where NZIS want proof of the ability to settle and maintain oneself & that means having an income. I would think that if a job offer couldn't be found within the 9 months of arriving , then an extension would not be on the cars ( that is only my guess though ). However, if a firm job offer was on the horizon & proof cold be shown via the employer and a certain employment contract , then I could see a case for an interim visa. The same if one had started a job towards the end of the 9 month period but had not completed 3 monthsh of working. There could be a case for an interim visa to allow time for a temporary work permit to be put into place.
