Default EOI and requirements for teachers in advance of lodgement

Hi

Can anyone tell me if teaching qualifications have to recognized by NZQA and teaching registration applied for before a EOI is submitted?

We were planning on submitting an EOI but are getting conflicting information that NZQA recognition and registration with the teachers council must be completed first.

Thanks

Normally, the EOI doesn't check anything. It just takes your word for it when you place it online. HOWEVER, they do a brief check after it is accepted to confirm some things manually.

Nevertheless, it is in your BEST interest to check your points carefully, and ensure that you have taken all steps in a pre-emptive measure to be selected. You do not want an incorrect EOI because it will waste your time and money, and most importantly you will be despondent not so much about the money, but about your prospects.

NZQA's prelim check will confirm that your qualification points are correct and a FULL assessment also makes it more likely for your EOI to be chosen since the immigration KNOWS that you already have a FORMAL assessment.

I would recommend that you get your AT LEAST a pre-lim assessment done which can take upto 10 working days if paid extra to expedite the assessment. A FULL NZQA ASSESSMENT would be even better but takes more time. As a gamble, you can get your pre-lim to show in the EOI and wait for your full NZQA assessment to come back by the time you get selected. Save yourself extra time.

As for the registration, just call the NZ Immigration and check the EOI Draft Online form to confirm. It should ask about this in one of the questions. It's ALWAYS best to get these things done prior to the EOI (if plausible) so that you heighten your chances of selection markedly.

Hope this helps. And all the best. NZ is a great country that can also play some seriously good rugby, i.e if you like the sport.

Hi,
Have you checked on the Immigration website? You need to check the list of Qualifications exempt from assessment. Have a look here. If your quals are not on the list then you will need assessment.
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...rq/default.htm
You do not need to be registered when you submit an EOI unless you are applying with a job offer in place. You will need registration when you return your ITA. A lot will depend on how long it takes to get registration- maybe start a new thread about teachers' registration which will hopefully catch the eye of one of the teachers on here

Did you mean to write selected rather than accepted?

Does it? More likely to be selected? Can you explain please?

It asks whether you need registration and with which body. It also asks for a number [which it is not necessary to fill in]. Having registration does NOT heighten your chances of being selected at all from what I can gather.

Robbyarg, why is it that your answers are often not quite right? You strike me as someone who knows the information but either cannot explain it properly or is not able to apply it correctly.

Teaching qualifications
If you want to teach in New Zealand, you will have to have your teaching qualification or degree in Education assessed by the NZQA for teacher registration and salary purposes.
Just found this so you do have to get the qualification assessed for registration purposes. It may be worth getting it assessed now as you will need that doing when you return the ITA anyway even if you don't actually need it for the EOI.
