just a thought to add: With WTR after 2 yrs you can apply and will get PR. Therefore you can work with anyone. While with a work visa you are tied to the employer sponsoring you. Changing employer means going through the same visa application once again.

Are you sure? I was under the impression that one would be tied to a sponsoring employer for the two years before applying for residence . I haven't heard of 'open' WTRs. Hmmm. Well, well, welll...

sorry for the misunderstanding. You are both tied to the sponsor. The difference being that after WTR you can apply for PR, irrelevant of the points you have as pts do not apply here. while with a visa, you just need to apply for another visa going through the same process, WTR or PR.
