EOI parent category

We were advised on the 16th of August (first draw of the new system) that we had been selected. In fact as it was the first draw of the new system everyone was selected. Since then we haven't heard anything. Does anyone have any experience of these draws and can give information as to how long every thing takes. Cheers.

Re: EOI parent category

depending on what tier you are it can be from 18mths to 7 years

"How long will it take?
Demand for Parent Category residence places currently exceeds the number of places available. A queue is needed to manage Parent Category EOIs because, under the New Zealand Government Residence Programme, the Capped Family stream (which includes the Parent Category) is currently allocated 14,850 to 16,500 places between July 2011 and June 2014.
The time taken to allocate an EOI/application for processing varies depending on which tier you submit your EOI under, or whether you have an application lodged under the previous Parent Category.
The queue of ter one EOIs is currently estimated to be 18 months.
The queue of existing applications lodged under the previous Parent Category is currently estimated to be five years.
The queue of tier two EOIs is estimated to be up to seven years."

Re: EOI parent category

Thanks. We're tier 1 and because we got our application in as soon as the new system started we were within the first draw of 595 applications. They are to hold a draw every 3 months with around 600 being drawn which ammounts to circa 1000 people (the current draw was 1001 people). We also applied under the old system around 15 months ago.
I'm assuming that since we've already been drawn the timing would be shorter than the quoted 18 months. I hope so.
Cheers

not sure if you will have a shorten time scale as they still have the applications that were already in the mix, but fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:

Hi
We've just heard today that we've been approved. Yipee. Still can't believe it.
We had been registered for over a year on the old system and were drawn out in August under the new system. House sale has gone through so we're on our way. I must say though the exchange rate is a bit of a downside at the moment. Still can't wait.
Good luck everyone see you in NZ
