End of the Relationship, will the visa/permit be cancelled?

Hi
If a couple split up n one of them is on a partner's visa.

Hi,

I think your partner can stay on the work permit until it runs out and then has to apply for one in their own right.

You should be ok. Your partner should be too. Technically your partners visa would be invalid but INZ aren't going to know that you've split. Only prob will be when you have to renew your visa. If you guys arent still together, you can't include your partner on your application again I suppose. Hope it all works out for you both:)

Cheers,

HHmm. Not automatically. The partner's visa will run until the visa end date, unless NZIS is advised otherwise that the circumstances have changed.

For the partner to remain they will need to apply for a temp work permit or PR in their own right . In other words.... he has some time until the end of the work visa. After that he should apply for a visitor visa to hopefully buy him more time whilst he sorts himself out. Be careful on that though. Wouldn't want NZIs to think he will disappears into the bush Crump style.

Sorry to read about yer relationship though Matewx. I know it has been hard for both of you since arriving, given that your partner hasn't been able to find a suitable job especially. Makes it hard for both truly settle totally.
