Emigrating, but not married
 

Hi all,

Me and the Girlfriend are thinking about moving to NZ, Wellington to be exact at the moment. Hoping to be there towards the end of 2010.
My question is, without being married, am I able to go and be able to work on the back of her application.
She will be mid-late 20's English teacher with 3 years experience at secondary school, so has her 3 year degree and pgce.
I will be mid 30's in IT since 2001 but no degree, so makes it harder for a seperate application, as I have no formal qualifications.

I assume she will be ok, as generally teachers are in demand?

No probs with that we have PR visa but aren't married. You just have to provide evidence of your relationship.:thumbsup:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:don't think so!! Proof of relationship can be joint bank account statement,utility bill in both names,mortgage statement in both names,if you are named on each others car insurance,letters addressed to you both with envelopes( wedding invitations,thank you cards,new house cards etc)council tax notification with both names. Can also provide photos,statements from family and friends about your relationship.Good luck:thumbsup:

Dont think you have to go quite that far, could raise a few eyebrows at NZ immigration though:eek: By the way i dont have a degree either and still got PR im sure you will be fine. They just want proof of things in joint names ie bank accounts, council tax, holiday confirmation documents.

Fingers crossed, this should not be too bad then.

Have Council tax, and rental agreement.
Have holiday to Cuba booked for August, so will have more photos from there along with a joint holiday, will have to look into the bank account then.

Also have the wedding invitations and new house cards, all being kept safe, along with tickets to Silverstone yesterday and music concert and the ent of the month.

Is there any one thing you guys would say is a must have.
We have time to sort, not looking at submitting the EOI until next year, and reccie in April 09.

P.S I applied on my own 2 years ago, and due to points, no degree was turned down, will this cause an issue?

Try and show a record going back at least two years. I dont think there is a "must-have", joint bank accounts, wills etc are good. Other than that holidy photos, letters adressed to the same adress, etc.

Thanks all, Love this place and the fountain of knowledge already.

Will get the bank account setup in the next few days, and look into getting the will done.

Another quick question, what is the need like out there for Teachers, is this "actually" in demand or just on short skill lists?

Even married couple need to prove they have been in a stable relationship for at least the last year. Need 'official letters' preferably addressed to both of you, we used house insurance documentation as all other bills in Tony's name. We only provided one piece of evidence.

Your pack will be individual to your case and will tell you exactly what evidence is needed.

I'm not a teacher so cannot comment on whether there are many posts for overseas migrants. It is definitely on the NZIS shortages list.
Perhaps start a thread in the main forum asking about teaching in NZ. Not everyone comes into the Immigration NZ forum.
