Unhappy Currently on Work Visa - applying residency

My work visa is due to expire in 4 months so I thought I best get my act together and apply for residency now as it only took 3 days in the UK to process...OH is kiwi and so is my son and I called immigration about applying for residency (hubby as sponsor) and they told me it takes a year to go through!!!!! I cannot extend my work visa as they said it is a maximum of 2 yr visa! Which I already have and don't know where to go from here...HELP!!!

Hi there

Have you thought about applying for a work permit? You should be able to obtain sponsorship by your OH. You just have to supply evidence of your partnership. Here is the info http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...rktemporarily/

Work permits generally don't take more than 60 days to issue
