Changing jobs on a work visa
hey everyone, i'm currently here on a work visa doing A/C servicing, and i've been offered another position for a different company but essentially doing the same thing. my current visa has another 18months on it but do i need to re-apply if i want to take this other job? also i'm planning a trip back to the uk in (their) summer, how long can i stay over there and is there any hassle with leaving nz and returning?
any help much appreciated. Matt |
Re: Changing jobs on a work visa
I changed jobs on a work visa. You don't need to reapply for the whole thing just submit a variation of conditions form which you can download from INZ
http://dol.govt.nz/immigration/knowledgebase/item/3203 It does cost though, around $100 if I remember rightly. As far as I know there shouldn't be any issues with leaving and returning as long as its within the valid timescale of your work visa. |
Re: Changing jobs on a work visa
Thanks for the help, one more thing though, if i leave for the uk on a month long holiday (at the most) and i'm aiming to apply for residency, will that reset the time that's counted towards my residency application?
If i want to go for PR & claim points for the time i've been here, do i have to stay here continuously basically? MG |
Re: Changing jobs on a work visa
Do you mean whether you'll be classed as working in NZ for more than or less than 12 months thus gaining an extra 10 points?
Skilled employment Points scores •50 points: job offer •50 points: working in a skilled job in New Zealand for less than 12 months •60 points: working in a skilled job in New Zealand for more than 12 months. |
