Im just getting my passport renewed as my partner I married this year.
I wanted to get my name changed on it so that when we hopefully get our EOI accepted for residency, it will be in my married name.
DO you get your old passport back?
I live in Nelson, where would I then send the new passport to get my current work visa changed over? Assume Christchurch?
Any thoughts?

I don't know what they do with a change of name, but if you renew, they send you your old one back with the corners clipped. The NZ visas are intact inside.

You then have to send/take it to your nearest immigration office to get anything changed over.

Does anyone know how long it takes INZ to put the replacement stickers in the new passport?

I guess it depends on your local NZIS department and how busy they are! When I took mine in for my IRRV I had it back 3 days later.
