Carpenter Qualifications & Work experience

Hi there,
we are new to forum and just wondered if anybody can help with regard to entry requirements ,as the changes with regard to work experience that come in to effect in February have confused us somewhat.
Our plan was for my husband to retrain as a carpenter and get a City and Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery,do an apprenticeship at the same time and then apply for PR as soon as qualified.
Can we still do this or will he need work experience under his belt as well?
Also with regard to what level his skill will be assessed at I seem to have conflicting info. Does anybody know exactly what qualification level he will have to achieve for us to be able to apply? If he has to do advanced levels then so be it
Have people gone out with just C & G or is there an alternative NVQ course that is equally acceptable?
Any help will be gratefully received
Many thanks
Matt and Angie

Re: Carpenter Qualifications & Work experience

Hi welcome
With Advanced City and Guilds and full apprenticeship I was assessed as a level 4 National Certificate which allowed me to apply for residency without a job offer.
Not too sure about the changes in Feb
Hope this is helpful

Re: Carpenter Qualifications & Work experience

For a trouble free application , a full apprenticeship leading to C&G advanced or NVQ level 3 should suffice.
This will be assessed at New Zealand National Certificate level 4 which is what you want to see.

You can count the years of training as work experience.
