Default Canterbury skills shortage list

Hi

I have just started looking into moving to New Zealand for work, I am a solid plasterer, age 36 with 18 years of experience. I see my occupation is on the canterbury skills list. Can someone confirm if this requires a job offer first before I could get a visa? Also does anyone know the cost of this visa and would I be able to bring my partner on this with me??

Thanks in advance

it's a temporarily work visa that requires a job offer but does not lead to residency. I believe you can add your partner to the application

Hi and welcome to this little NZ forum.

You would require a job offer first before you could apply for a temporary work visa.

Your partner could come with you . You would need to prove this was a stable , long lasting relationship of at least a year. Your partner would need to apply under a family stream as such.

ANZSCO 333212 Solid plasterer is on the Canterbury Immediate Shortage list as you know.
This means that any employer in that region is free to offer you work

Solid plaster is seen by New Zealand Immigration as a skilled occupation.
So. In theory, once you are here and working you could apply for NZ residency under the Skilled Migrant Category, if you had enough points to do so.
Working in a job here means more points.

From what I can tell on the NZIS website the work visa would cost about 150 GBP each.
You will need to factor in the cost of police checks & depending on the length of the visa, you may need medicals.
