Can you get a WTR visa with a one year job?
Hi guys, we are on a LTBV but it would be great to swap to a WTR visa. I've been offered a Long Term Relieving primary teaching position for the whole of 2014, is that enough to apply for a WTR visa?

You couldn't just swap . You would maybe have to put in a new, tandem application.
Ref. the WTR. It will depend on the terms of this contract. I doubt a WTR visa would be offered for a one year contract which has to be renewed each year .

Yes, sorry, didn't literally mean 'swap' . Realise we'd have to put in a new application, was just wondering if a year contract was enough. Hoping against hope really!! Thanks though x

Hi Fi
Good news on the job offer!
A job offer must be for at least two years in order to apply for a WTR visa, it also has to be for an accredited employer or be in a profession on the LTSSL. It makes sense as you can only apply for residency after having worked in the job for 24mth. So this visa is not an option.
But, what about the Skilled Migrant category if the quote below applies?. This is what it says about length of job offers:

Ongoing means your job offer must be for employment with a single employer in a job:
which is clearly stated to be 'permanent', or 'indefinite', or
for a term of at least 12 months, with an option for you of further employment after that time.
