Can I claim points for work experience in absolute skills shortage area?

Hi, please help me with my confusion and I would be very grateful.

I have read almost all the documents provided by immigration site. But I am not sure if I can claim points for work experience in absolute skills shortage area.

I have a bachelor degree which majors in Communication Engineering and a master degree which majors in Communication and Information System. In addition, I am a Telecommunication Engineer(263311).

My question is if my bachelor degree( Communication Engineering) specializes in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology)? Only then I can claim points for work experience in absolute skills shortage area.

Besides, the university where I got bachelor and master degree is in the exempt list, do I need to assess my qualification through NQZA if I claim points for work experience in absolute skills shortage area ?

Thanks a lot.

Hello

So your degrees are on the list of recognised qualifications, is that right? In which case you do not need to get them assessed.

Do they match one of those in column 4 on the LTSSL? If so then you can claim points for the work experience.

Was the work experience in a comparable labour market? If it wasn't and you do not come under the LTSSL then you may not be able to claim for work experience at all. If you are on the LTSSL then the comparable labour market issue does not apply.

I do not know whether you can apply to NZQA to assess a qualification already on the recognised quals list as comparable to one on the LTSSL [if it isn't mentioned in column 4], sorry.

Thanks a lot. Now I know I don't need to assess my qualifications through NZQA.

However, my work experience is not in a comparable labour market, so I hope my degrees match the requirements in column 4 on LTSSL which are "Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology)".

I wonder whether my bachelor degree(Communication Engineering) specializes in Information Technology. Is there somebody who majors in Communication Engineering getting the points for work experience in absolute skills shortage area successfully?

Your help will be highly appreciated.
