Yep, it's pants. We were hoping to bring our daughter and grandson over but not looking great.

We are 5 weeks away from the 3 years needed to sponsor our sons.
They are devastated, actually we all are.

Totally feel for you. Our daughter was on our original visa but then became pregnant and so was no longer allowed to use it. Have they already used their WHV? Is there any possibility they could come for a holiday, find work and go on from there?

Can you have a chat with someone at immigration? They do make exceptions in specific cases. Perhaps tell them that you may have to return to the UK if your sons can't stay. I'd only use that as a last resort though.
