Default Bad News and Help Please!

Hi,

My partner and I have been getting ready to apply for New Zealand for
the past few weeks. We are applying under the Skilled Migrants Cat.

We at once were up to 155 points!! possibly but I am now certain even with a job offer my maximum points will now be 115. (with 10yrs experience in my skill)

Questions I need help on?

1st My partner is now well below 100 points but with me as principal at 115
points will this matter? or is it over?

2nd Question one asked many times before - what are the chances of getting
any success on 115 and if so how long will it take as A big part of our points will be a job offer and I can imagine not many employers will wait around for three months until we may or may not get pulled from the pool!

Any help appreciated.

Hi
How are you working out your points totals? Why do you think you've gone from 155 down to 115? Sorry I am a bit confused but that's not difficult to do
1st question: I may have read your post incorrectly but only one of you can be the principal candidate and so the other partner's points are irrelevant. The principal applicant should be the one with the job offer or the highest points. But if neither of you have a job offer then this also depends on whether you are claiming points for work experience on the LTSSL for example. If you have a look at the history of selection points then you'll see what I mean. This should also give you an idea as to the answer to your second question Look at the categories that have been selected recently

History of Selection Points
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much
Points are as follows for me...

1.Offer of skilled Employment 50 (as yet to get)
2.Outside Auckland 10
3.10 years experience in skill 30
4.Age 25
Total=115

155 was hoped for +20 for partners qualific +50 for my qualific (instead of
10 years experience). Neither are qualifications are recognised after some time
looking in to this the last few days

At least my partners points are irelevant! thank you she was feeling bad today.

If I am sucessful in getting the job offer anyone know what I can tell employer
about waiting period.
Thank you again

A partner can just migrate as that, for being a partner. So the main applicant is the principal. The benefit of your partner being qualified is that it can get you points. Concentrate on the principal applicants points.

Secondly, if your points are 115, your chances are pretty good. IF you have bonus points from the long term skills shortage for work experience (priority), and for qualification. It looks pretty good to me.

I know some recent candidates that good selected with 110 points satisfying the bonus points and they were selected in as little as 6 weeks for the EOI. The ITA and related documentation was received about 4 weeks.

Hope this helps and I would encourage you to lodge your EOI. Firstly because it doesn't cost much and secondly because your chances look good IF your points are correctly calculated (with an emphasis on the bonus points).

If you lack those bonus points (and have no job offer), you can still lodge but it lowers your chances significantly of being selected within the 6 mths of the EOI.

I have 10 years experience in my skill -
however the only bonus points I could earn
would be for work outside Auckland. My skill is
not on the shortage list.

My total is 115 (with a job offer).

My question therefore IF i have to wait 6 months to get pulled out of the pool
How can I expect an employer to wait as I will be back in the UK waiting

You wouldn't. You would apply for a temporary work visa.
You still have the hurdle of having the NZIS accept the job offer so that might be a way to go anyway.
