Default Australian moving to NZ with British husband

Hi,
Just wanted to check my existing research. My husband and I are planning to emigrate to NZ this year. As I am Australian I can just arrive in NZ and declare apon entry that I would now like to be a resident, right?

My husband who is British will be joining me in NZ a few months later, I plan to sponsor him in. We have been married for 4 years. Does anyone know if I can sponsor him in AFTER he arrives in NZ or should we get the ball rolling prior? I think from what I have read I will need a place of residence first

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Default Re: Australian moving to NZ with British husband

Friends of mine did this. The British partner came in on a holiday visa, so had to have a return flight to qualify, and applied for partnership soon after arriving. The Aussie partner ticked the long term box. I'm not sure how long the PR took, but my friend applied for a work visa while they waited.
