Australian citizen + daughter
Hi there
I have Australian and British citizenship. My new daughter isn't entitled to Australian citizenship, as I have citizenship by descent and have not lived there for a total of two years. We are going on a holiday to Australia & New Zealand, and I am wondering whether my daughter is entitled to go into New Zealand on anything other than a usual tourist permit at the airport? Thanks! |
Re: Australian citizen + daughter
If the intention is to only visit NZ, what's wrong with just being a tourist?

Hmmm, well on the assumption that she is a British citizen then she will enter as just that, to be otherwise she would have to be entering as a dependant of someone else who is on a visa, no? As that won't be the case as far as I can see she will be entering as what she is, a tourist on a temporary visit.
I think you need to read the NZIS website carefully as to what time counts towards any aspect of residency or citizenship but I think you'll find she would have to be a resident first and she won't presumably get that in her own right or via yourself at the moment. |
