My husband and i are currently temp australian 457 visa holders, sponsorede by his company. He has just been told that he needs to be in christchurch on monday and tuesday for meetings/work related stuff. As british citizens and temporary australian resident does he need a visa, and if so which one?

As travelling on UK passport I would think a visa is necessary, though perhaps not, under the visa waiver program. Otherwise might need an RRV (australian returning resident visa).

I was in Australia in 2009 on a 457 and made several trips to NZ and no visa was required as being a UK passport holder you are granted automatic entry for up to 6mths - I only came over on holiday though so business might be different.

He doesn't need a visa if he's going over on business.

i know he is fine travelling in and out of australia on his 457 as there's no travell restrictions on that visa. but it was more him getting in and out of nz we were more concerned with.
It appears that he is ok under the visa waiver program nz has with uk citizens as he is attending business meetings at his company's overseas nz subsidary.
Love how companies dont think of these things.
