Any LTBV status updates out there?

Hi Mic, took us over six months to get our LTBV granted in 2009/2010, we finally arrived in NZ in Feb 2010.
Took a while and lots of money but was worth it!!

Thanks for the info! Can you share your experience? Like what kind of contact they made with you (if any), or did they just approve you? Did you buy or start your business? We received notification that they received our application April 8 so are now waiting and hoping to be approved by July so we have enough time to get our businesss (brewpub) started in time for summer. Thanks again!

We used an immigration agency and I have to say they were worth every penny as our application was not easy at all. We bought an existing business in Christchurch but it seemed to take ages to get sorted, then hubby's medical had trouble due to high alt levels so in the end he got taken off the business application and came over on just a visitors visa and sorted it once in NZ.
After running the business for 2 years and doing everything we said we would in our business plan we applied for residency and were told it was going to be declined!!! Apparently immigration had moved the goal posts but wouldn't tell us what the new criteria were!!! It was a nightmare and very stressful but thankfully we successfully argued out case and our residency was granted late last year.
All I would say is that it was the best move we have ever made (earthquakes and all!!) and don't be disheartened if they muck you around. It's worth it to hang in there and fight your corner if need be....
