another silly question - sponsoring parents [moved to Immy]

:)If we ever get to New Zealand we are hoping to sponsor my parents so they can join us (need the baby sitters to come ha ha) Does any one have any advice I believe that I have to be earning enough money to sponsor them not sure how much and I think I have to be a resident. They are really to anxious to know how long it will be before they can join us.

Has anyone got any ideas it would really help.

Thanks:confused:

Hi, I have the same question and posted some time ago. Are they retired?
Apparently, ( anyone please correct me if I'm wrong), you need to be a resident for three years or more before the parents can come over, as there is no retirement poicy in place in NZ.
The only other way to get them over quickly would be if the parent to child ratio was even, say there were you and your sibling in NZ and only one back in the UK.
Please get back to me if you find any more out about it.

Criteria for sponsoring parents

Parents need to have the majority of children living in NZ, if you have siblings in the UK this will go against you.

Parents should have no living siblings in the UK.

OR

You can get them in if they have enough money in the bank, sorry I can't remember the minimum.

We looked into it, but can't put my hands on the paperwork - used an immigration specialist, wasn't that expensive, quite cheap really.

Sorry, if and when I find the letter from the immigration specialist I will give more infor. Were not concerned with length of time living in NZ only relatives living in UK

This is from following website -http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/live/parent/

quote 'If you are a parent
and wish to move to New Zealand to be close to your child or children, you will need to apply for residence in New Zealand. Your child must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, and be eligible to sponsor you.

(Note that your sponsor must have been a New Zealand or Australian citizen and/or the holder of a Residence Permit or a Returning Resident’s Visa for at least three years immediately before the date your completed application is received by Immigration New Zealand.)' unquote.

Hope this helps!

I thought that was it that I would have to be a resident for at least 3 years before I could gat my parents out there. I was just hoping that someone would know of a quicker way but never mind you have all been really helpful thank you for your answers and your time.
