Dear All,
Would CIC accept an IELTS academic module? On their web site they seem to ask for the General module. If they don't accept the academic would they agree to take the scores of "reading & writing" from a previous general module and the scores of "listening and speaking" from my new academic module. As I know the "listening and speaking" are the same for the two modules.
Many thanks,
Fady

I've just completed the Academic module, i cannot see why they would not accept this result. As far as i know they require proof in writing of your English ability, if you pass the test surely this is acceptable, it is more difficult for a start. I've been told the average pass mark is 6.5 or above for immigration. I apologise now if i'm wrong, but this is what i will be submitting with my application next week.
The listening and speaking are the same.
Regards,
Gary.

IELTS should be passed in the General module and some officers are quite strict about it, while others don't care much.
As for IELTS score - you heard wrong. There is no such thing as "average pass mark is 6.5 or above for immigration".
You are awarded points in each skill as per your IELTS results - 7.0 or better gives you 4 points per skill, between 5.0 and 5.9 gives you 2 points, between 4.0 and 4.9 brings 1 point (up to a max of 2 points) and score under 4 brings you zero points.
Again - each of four skills is awarded points individually as per respective IELTS score in each. Overall IELTS score doesn't count.
