Default work permit while waiting for permanent residency

Hi there,

I'm a Canadian citizen and my boyfriend (UK citizen) and I are planning to apply for permanent residency from outside of Canada. I would very much like for him to stay with me in Canada while his visa is being processed.

I was wondering if he could apply for a temporary work permit while we're waiting for the visa approval.

Does anybody have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks so much!!

He would have to find an employer who was willing to apply for a Labour Market Opinion after advertising the position on the National Job Bank. The position must be in NOC A,B or O and the employer has demonstrate that there are no Canadians or PRs available for the work and why the applicants who applied were not qualified. IF the LMO is approved, then your BF (he better be either a C/law spouse or husband if want the application to go through) then applies for a work permit at either a Port of Entry or an office in the US>
