Default Work Permit Visa Processing Time

Helly everyone, I have a question pertaining to work permit visas and a job offer.

In late May of 2003, I received a job offer in Mississauga, Canada working with an Internet Service Provider in their Technical Support and Network Dept. Per the company, I am being sponsored by them with confirmation from HRDC in order to process a work permit visa. My original start date was set for August 25, 2003, hence this date has gone and past. However, I have received numerous emails from the company explaining the delay of there being backlog in processing visas at the Immigration Center

Being that I am currently in United States it is difficult to obtain a full understanding of the process at the Immigration Center. My question: is there truly backlog in the visa process or am I being led on?

Any insight that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Once you get te HRDC approval ( takes about 2 to 4 months) visa should be
relatively quick. Decision on workpermit application, at the consulate are
made same day or with in few days. There is huge backlog at processing
center at vigreville for "in Canada" applications, but it does not apply to
you.
