Work permit or study permit

Hi all,

It seems that my husband and I might fall short of points for EE.

Our two other options are for me to study for a year and my husband work for a year which will gain us 20 points. I have managed to get onto a post diploma program at Bow Valley College which I have paid Â£80 for registration but now they want $1000 to confirm my seat by 17/12/18.

Or, our other option is I work for a year and my husband studies for a year. This will give us 35 points. But our concern is how easy is it to get a job in Canada? Also, the work I have to do has to be skilled work so NOC 0, A or B. Does anyone know what jobs these NOCâ€™s entail? I have a MA in Social Work but need to register with Alberta College of Social Workers before I can apply for any social work jobs.

Has anyone been through any of this or give us advice in any way?

If you're only studying to increase your CRS score and gain permanent residency then you need to know or have a pretty good idea whether you'll get picked once you've completed your course.

Do you know what your potential score might be once you've graduated?

Hi, potential score will be 451 if I study. If I work for a year potential score will be 466.

Those scores would be good at the moment, but who knows what the cut-off scores might be like in a year or more.

If you haven't already, make you sure you practise for the IELTS exam to get the maximum score possible. You get bonus points for having scores over a certain mark in each categories that boost your overall score a lot.
