Default Work Permit - Length of Issue

Hey all,

Does anyone know how long they issue a Work Permit for as standard?

When applying for PR their rules for ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT STATE:

----< Your work permit will be valid for 12 or more months after
you apply for a permanent resident visa. >----

Well, it's possible I'm going to get offered a job ... but I need to
know the standard length of a work permit ... (before Thursday!!)

anyone any clues?

Thanks,

Rob

It all depends from the category under which Work Permit is being applied
for. Some categories have maximum validity between 1 to 3 years. But
generally WP are being issued with validity of 1 to 3 years. The longer
validity applied for the more convincing applicant must be about temporary
nature of stay in Canada.

Mr. Miller,

Many thanks for the reply - much appreciated.

I find their pre-condition in the PR application "Your work permit will be valid for 12 or more months after you apply for a permanent resident visa. " very strange .....

... for example I guess If i was offered a 12 month work permit, I should just submit my application for PR on the day its valid from ... a vary strange clause ...

i.e. Here's a bonus 10+5 points for your secured job BUTTTTTTT you've got to have a permit valid to say you're here temporarily for a long while .... very bizarre in my opinion!
