Work Permit Help

My wife and I have been invited to apply through the Canadian Experience class however our work permits end at the end of March, my wife is applying for a bridging work permit as she is the main applicant however is there any way that myself as the spouse can still work while we are waiting for the permanent residency to come through?

Yes, you should be eligible for another spousal open work permit. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration..._or_common_law

Just checking though, you say you’ve been invited to apply but have you actually done so and got to the completeness check stage? She’s not eligible to apply for a BOWP until then.

Good luck.

Yes we have submitted our application for permanent residency and have received our letter to confirm application has been received.

Am i able to apply for this open work permit at the same time as my wife is applying for a BOWP or do i need to wait until she gets approved first?

Yes. Your wife can apply now for a BOWP. Apply for both before your current WPs expire.

does that mean I can still work while the open work permit is being processed? I know my wife can when applying for the BOWP under “implied status” but not sure about myself

thanks

Are you on 'normal' work permits? If so, then yes you can - it's only IEC work permits that don't benefit from implied status.

HTH.

Re: Work Permit Help

If you are on an IEC WP and you apply to extend to another type of WP such as a spousal open work Permit inside Canada using IMM5710 you do benefit from implied status.

It's when you apply for another IEC WP that you do not.
