On a work permit - do I need a tourist visa to visit the USA???
Hey everyone,
I have been searching for answers on google and have been getting mixed responses. I'm currently on a canadian work permit and I plan to visit Vegas for 4 days in July. I have a british electronic passport. Do I require a tourist visa for the USA? If so where do I apply for one? I'm based in Calgary
Thanks!!

If you are a british citizen you don't require a visa to enter the US for tourist purposes. You can enter the US for up to 90 days under the Visa waiver program (VWP). However, you first have to get a travel authorization through ESTA. You can find more information here: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ - I did it myself, it's quite painless.

Your status in Canada, even the fact that you are travelling from Canada, won't make any difference to the US border guards, they'll treat you just the same as if you were travelling directly from the UK. You won't need (or likely get) a visa if you qualify for the Visa Waiver Program. When you complete ESTA that should show if you are eligible or not. If you aren't, then yes, you would need a visa.
