Default Work Experience

Hi
I have full-time work experience but i did not get paid for it (as part of
the doctoral degree I am getting), could I even count that as work
experience? If so, do I need any other proof besides employer's
verification?
Thanks
Steve

It has to be a full time, paid employment to be counted.

Actually, according to CIC'S own Chapter OP 6 located online under "Media & Publications" then "Immigration Manuals" then "Overseas Processing" then "Chapter OP 6", or better yet here's the direct link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/manuals-guides/...h/op/op06e.pdf

it specifically states on page 26 of that document in instructions to the visa officer

"You must...take into account both paid full-time and paid part-time work (equalizing part-time work to full-time years) ([R80(6)])"

This does not help the original poster, but according to CIC themselves, Mr. Miller, not only paid full-time, but also paid part-time work is to be considered for total experience and respective points are to be awarded. The instructions are clear.
