The "Adaptability" factor in Bill C-11 is the same as the "Personal Suitability"
factor under old law - one of the reasons for the interview is to assess those
factors, so nothing changes here.

Hi,

[usenetquote2]> > One year of recent skilled work experience: 10[/usenetquote2]

1. Would voluntary work count too ? (full-time)

[usenetquote2]> > ADAPTABILITY Maximum 10[/usenetquote2]

2. How many points I need to qualify in the new system?

3. If I've finished university and have Master Degree (for example chemistry) do I
have to work as a chemist to get points for work experience or just have
experience in some work (repairing computers or selling cars) ?

Regards, Hugo

1. No

2. The qualifying mark has not yet been set - it will be Minister's of Immigration
authority to set passing mark and adjust it periodically.

3. You need "recent skilled work experience" - that means in the occupation you have
gained the proper education for, if you are a chemist then you need to show recent
work experience as such or at the job requiring education in chemistry.

nirupam is an unknown quantity at this point

Is there going to be a list of allowed occupation? If not, then people from any field or occupation with education and experience would be allowed to immigrate. Does this means that there is no emphasis on the areas where Canada needs skilled people?

No, the GOL will be abandoned and more emphasis will be put on the education, work
experience, language abilities and transferable skills. But there will also be a
"black list" of occupations not allowed for immigration. In rapidly changing market
this will allow for selection of those who posses skills and abilities to adapt to
such environment regardless what is their current occupation.

Dear Mr. Andrew Miller,

When this new C-11 will be effective?? Where can I find this information? ?? I am
thinking whether I should file an application or wait for a while. I started
collecting necessary documents from plice and FBI and etc. However, I can not prepear
all of them until end of August. I might have better chance if I file after C-11
becomes effective.

Thanks

Muz

Mr Andrew: Would it be any easier for a Doctor or Dental Surgeon to apply under the
system OR these occupations will still be in the "black list".

Thanks. HS

Nobody really knows yet what occupations will be on the so called "black list", but
it is probably safe to assume that Physicians will be there.

But please remember that a person who is a Physician educated and trained outside of
North America has almost no chance to practice medicine in Canada. In theory it is
possible after passing several qualifying exams and going through the required
residency/internship in Canada before proper license can be granted. But in reality
currently in Canada there is less residency/internship openings available than number
of students graduating from Canadian medical schools, so the chance for a foreign
trained physician to get into residency/internship program in Canada is next to none.

In the view of such reality applicant who's only training is as a Physician will most
likely be refused as such person has no chance to be licensed in order to work in
Canada. Those who will be willing to do other jobs in medical field that will not
require physician's license and are able to demonstrate that they have education and
experience in those other jobs may have a chance.
