Default Why is a negative required at the medical?

I have found a photographer who can provide us with 6 photos of each family member to the exact specification required for the application.

However, the application also requires us to keep a negative for use at the medicals. The photographer can not provide us with a negative but can provide us with a spare photograph. Do you think this will be acceptable? Why should a negative be required at a medical anyway, I would have thought a photograph would be better?

kim,

Forgive me, this is not an answer to your inquiry.

How do you know that the negative is required FOR THE MEDICAL? I have found nothing in the guides or applications that says that....

Thanks.

I am applying to London and in their 'how to fill in the application forms' guide for Skilled Workers it states that 6 photographs and a negative are required. The negative is needed at the medical. Here is the link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/how-3-1.html

I wonder why?

Can anyone tell me if I must have a negative for presentation at the medical or will a photograph be acceptable?

The negatives are NOT required by CIC. They're asking you to keep the negatives so
that you could reproduce the same pictures for the medical exam later on, instead of
retaking new pictures.

That's what I believe they're required for.

Guide says to retain the negative after making photos for immigration application so
you can make more identical prints when needed later (for example for medicals).
