Default when to send in passports for spousal sponsorship??

We will be applying under the spousal sponsorship as soon as we have everything together for it..

Wanting it to go through as quickly as possible.. I see on the 'what to enclose' forms to send passports with applications.

Is this what everyone does? I thought I read on here you get a request for passports at some point.. maybe that is for different cases?

As my partner will be in Canada and me and the kids in the UK, I was hoping to travel over there once a month or so until it comes through..

Can you provide link to "what to enclose" form stating that you must submit passports with application?

Here is the link

I'm trying to get as much information together as I can at an early stage so I don't make any mistakes when I eventually send it all in...

Section 24 says

"Travel documents and passports
As per document list provided with The Immigrants Guide."

If you check The Immigrants Guide, it says that you send copies.
