Have submitted FBI fingerprint two times, do you know what is the validity of a police certificate for the processing of the immigration application and issuance of a visa, two, three years or what else?

Hi,

I have recently been asked to submit a police certificate for the second time but am not sure how long one can be in the system before you are required to submit an updated one. All I know is that CIC will not accept a police certificate that's more than three months old.

As we know the validity of the medicals is one year. How about the policy certificate before the immigration visa is issued? No one knows that?

normally 1 year, but depends on the visa officer alot! For certain countries, it can be even 2 years....

I think the question is what is the period of time, after submitting a police certificate to CIC, that you may be requested to submit an updated one? Some people have received visas within three years and only had to submit one certificate. Others have been asked to send an update.

To that there is no clear answer:-

- There may be other things they request first;
- They don't always ask for an update, but if they do it is normally at the time of your meds request;
- As they are only valid three months, you'd have to be very lucky with your timing to order one in anticipation of a request...
