Default what has to be done for a two days visit landing?

Dear Experts,
I am going to land in Toronto this November, but I only want to stay
there for two night and then go back to UK .
I will do my final move 14 months later when I finish my contract with
the UK company.
I have my best friend in Toronto and he can provide me a permanent
residential address.
My question is :
What has to be done in these two days?
I know PR card is necessary, Can I apply PR card in the airport? how
long will it take? is that a simple process or very time consuming ?

Do I have to apply a SIN card in that two days? yes or not, why?

Anything else I need to ensure I have no problem when I re-enter
Canada 14 month later?

Thanks in advance!

you complete the PR card application process as part of yoru landing
proceedure. You should be ok to give yoru friends residential address in
Toronto. Once you are a PR you are free to leave Canada and returning in 14
months you wont breach residency requirements.
your friend can then courier you your PR card to the UK i guess or you can
apply for a temporary travel document and return with that and then get your
PR card from yoru friend if you do not want to risk the mail.
You can apply for a SIN card if you like in theose 2 days and have it sent
to your friends house but you dont actually need one until you plane to
work/pay taxes etc in Canada so you could apply for it when you return.
Also the OHIP healthcare doesnt kick in till you have been resident in
Ontario for 3 months so there isnt much point in applying for that if you
arent going to beliving in Ontario for 14 months.

Hello, The Wizzard!
Your answer is clear and precise.
So I can enjoy those two days as a tourist in Toronto without worrying
about SIN card and OHCP !!

Thank you very much!

Why would you need a SIN card and OHIP if you weren't going to live there.
makes sense.

Exclamation Re: what has to be done for a two days visit landing?

Don't be mistaken on this point. My case was exactly like you. I got my landing papers in July, 02. Due to my job, I cannot go to Canada till July, 03. So I went to Canada just for one week and thought I would be able to come back. But I was clearly told on the airport itself by immigration officer that if I go back without taking PR Card, I cannot come back to Canada. On the landing papers, it now clearly written "Not Valid For Travel". (New immigrants do not need to apply for PR Card. As soon as they land, immigration officer just checks the data and they get their PR Card by post.) Then I went to immigration office also. They also told me very clearly that if I go back without PR Card, then in that case I need to go back to the canadian consulate in my country. They will then issue one time emergency travel document but that is complicated thing to do and you must have good reason for that. On should not take that risk. It takes 4-6 weeks for PR Card to come though I got mine in 3 weeks by post. They send it by post to a Canadian address. But sometimes they call you personally to pick it up or if some information/document is missing then also they call you personally. It happened with one friend of mine. He was called in person as photos he supplied did not match their secifications for PR Card. So I had to stay there for one month to get my PR Card. So be prepared for that. If you want you can call PR Card call center at 1-800-255-4541 to find out.

You don' t need to do anything else there. You can apply for SIN and health insurance later when you come back permanently. Though I utilized my one month there to get driving licence.
