Default What EXACTLY is involved in the landing process ?

Preparing to land .............

What documents do we need to complete when we get there?

Are there any declarations that we need to answer?

What questions will we be asked?

Thanks

Although I am only here on a visitors visa, accompanying study permit family members, we were "landed" by customs on our PR application.

When we went to the Immigration after getting off the plane, we were asked to go to the room that runs behind the immigration counters. A lady checked over our papers and issued us with our permits.

Then we went to collect our bags and dogs and cat and took them all through the "declare" channel where a vet was waiting for us to sign the animals in. The Customs officer took our List of Goods to Follow and checked then stamped them all.........and that was that.

Spent about 5 mins with the woman in Immigration and about 10 mins with the Customs but only because they were all gathered round looking at a picture of our little pony that was on our List of Goods, lol!! Then they said the usual "welcome to Canada".

We landed at Lester B Pearson airport on Jan 16th from UK. We went to passport control and were then directed to the immigration area where we joined a long queue. (Unfortunately 3 international flights arrived together, so we stood in line for ages.) We went up to the desk and showed passports/visas and COPR. We had to show proof of funds - just used current bank statements. We were asked if we had committed any criminal offences since the police checks were done. We provided our Canadian address, which was entered on the COPR. Our copies of the COPR's were stapled into our passports and we were sent through to customs. Make sure that you have totalled the values on your 'Goods to Follow' lists - we hadn't done this as there is no 'total' box on the form! Also make sure you have copies of the forms to leave at customs. The customs official was very patient and even found us a calculator! He gave us a printed form which we would need later when our container arrived and we were done!

Everyone was very pleasant and polite and welcomed us to Canada. It was a painless experience - the worst part being standing in line. Our eldest daughter will be arriving on her own in June, so I am hoping that it is as easy for her as it was for us!

Good luck

Out of curiosity, were your bank statements issued by a canadian bank or one in the U.K

They are online. Just fill them out and take them with you - we made 4 copies of them all. We weren't asked to show any other documents or bank statements.
