Default What does it mean by your AOR !!!!!

Guys

We have all been there, wrote the book, in that most of us have received the magical AOR !!!

My question to you all is

What exactly is your AOR, what does it entail, what does it mean !!!!!!

IS IT !!!

1. A filing clerk has browsed your application to see if all the t's are crossed and the dots, dotted, without checking to see if it meets the minimum standard, then issues you with your file number, then passes it onto a visa officer for proper evaluation.

2. A junior visa office actually evaluates your application to see if all the t's are crossed and the dots dotted, checks to see if it meets the minimum standard, then issues file number, then passes onto visa officer for next stage

3. Your application is assesed under the current rules and regulations by visa officer, he / she makes sure it meets the required standard on all accounts, all the proper documentation is correct, points are correct etc, then issues your file number, then onto next stage.

What is the next stage after the issueing of file number !!!!!!!!

I also read somewhere on the forum that once your file number has been generated on the system, that CIC shred all your documents apart form the initial application forms, ie all reference letters etc are shredded. Is this true !!!!

Can anyone shed any light on these few queries

Eddie

Depending from visa post and it's established procedures it is either (1) or (2) and in many visa posts it is actually the officer who later processes the case who creates file and sends AOR letter.

AOR letter is only the receipt, a confirmation that application has been received, met the definition of application and has been put into the processing queue - it is nothing more than **acknowledgment of receipt** as AOR stands for.

It has nothing to do with substance of the case, criteria, points, etc. - zip, nada, nothing.

Next stage is an initial assessment - to see if points are there, selection criteria are met and if interview is needed.

Many visa posts go through paper screening stage to see if applicant meets the definition in applied class and do a quick points count before case goes into assessment stage.

Forms and all received documents are scanned and stored in digital format permanently in CIC database.

In spousal sponsorship cases you may get things of value (like photos, originals of personal letters, etc.) back, especially if you requested it. But there is no guarantee that you'll get it back.

This is why I always advise to submit scanned photos, or if taken in digital format simply printed on plain paper in sheets of 4 pics per sheetwith description under each pic.
