Default WES help required

Hi again!

Looking at getting my partners education evaluated by WES.

She has a Degree and 1 year PGCE.

Should we look at getting the WES evaluation done ASAP? or wait until we actually submit our EE application. We both have our IELTS tests coming up, but wondered if it's worth getting this done now to speed up the application process?

Also, would she need to get her High School education evaluated if shes completed a Degree?

Thanks for any help.

To apply for EE and claim the points for education you need to have an ECA, so you need to get that before applying if you want the points.

No if you have a degree you don't need your high school doing.

Would a photocopy of the Degree certificate be enough for WES?

Yes, that's what they ask for - they don't want the original. They just need the original transcripts.

You can check the requirements on their website - World Education Services - Required Documents

HTH.

note, as per the link above, they need original transcripts sending directly from your university or college in a sealed and stamped envelope. At no time can these documents pass through your hands. i.e. if you have signed and sealed copies in your possession you cannot use them.

My WES results didn't come back as anticipated - I studied a one year course at college but was credited only for secondary school. Do you think it would be worthwhile to try again with a different company and hope for a different result?
It states on CIC webpage you'll be credit with points for a one year program "One-year Post-secondary certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]" which is exactly what I did so I'm a bit perplexed by the WES result.

Was your 1 year college course after A levels? In North American high school education is equivalent to A-Levels (to 18 years of age).

The level of education roughly translates to A-level, however, it was a specialist course not offered at high school which was a required stepping stone in to my profession.

Seems harsh to not be credited for this. A year at college is a year at college. It's not as if I just repeated High School.

Unfortunately the Canadian system is very heavily into their pieces of paper (in addition to believing their education system to be superior to everyone else's). As your education is equivalent to A level unfortunately that is what they have awarded you. They really don't take account of too much more than that I'm afraid.

So to answer your earlier question I do not believe you will have much luck with a different accessing group.

Ahh. Frustrating but I understand you, thanks for the info.

I still meet the criteria for Experience Class and Skilled Trades, just don't quite have enough points for Skilled Worker even with my LMIA. But hopefully there's a suitable draw for me eventually.

What was the actual qualification? You mention it was a 'specialist course', which sounds like it could have been a vocational/professional course rather than an academic one. Remember only academic courses are worth anything so that may be why you've not given points for it.
