Default We have our visas!!!!

34 months after applying we have our immigrant visas, so now we need to head for the border to land

I have read all the comments on here re going round the flagpole or actually wentering the States and cant decide whats best to do. How likely are you to get marked down as refused entry to the States if you just turn around?

Next point is where to head to?? Are there any really bad or good experiences with anywhere in particular? We are thinking of 1000 Islands area or Niagara/ Buffalo. Probably not best to fill the car with shopping too?

So, please, if you have any suggestions on where to go, and any other adivce re goods to follow lists, money, income etc that would be very very good indeed

Hey daft batty, congratulations, it's a great feeling!

I've linked to a post I put up in September detailing my flagpole experience at Fort Erie, in case it helps. It was super, super quick and no hassle whatsoever.

Do you think it would be a bit cheeky to go shopping in the US when we do our day trip to "land" . Would it just confuse the issue with goods to follow lists and suchlike??

Congratualtions

I'd head to the thousand islands (landsdown) from where you are, unless you want to make a shopping trip of it, in which case Niagara is a better bet shop wise. Landsdown is a pretty quiet crossing, so you wont have to wait long to be processed. Its where I did my flagpole landing, and Tiaribbon went there too as I recall.

I cant see any harm in doing a bit of cross border shopping if you want too, but of course it wont be duty free for a day trip.
