We have landed!

Just wanted to let you know that the sands family landed in Calgary on Saturday to activate our PR visa's. The first immigration officer was lovely asked us some initial questions, checked our landing card and then showed us through to Immigration, we had to queue for a little while but we were then seen by another lovely Immigration officer who went through the forms checked our passports asked how much money we had in our possession. We then signed the PR entry form We had to give our address in Canada, luckily we are staying with friends so we gave their address for our PR cards to be sent to. They are currently taking about 3 months to receive. After immigration our passport with the confirmation of PR in them were returned to us, the immigration officer gave us a big "welcome to Canada" smile and we proceeded through to customs. We told them that we were only activating our PR visa and would be returning home in three weeks, we had complied a goods to follow list so they copied that and told us to keep it safe until we had our goods shipped over. That was it....we had become Permanent Residents of Canada. Our friends were there to meet us which was amazing! I had worried over the whole process but everyone was so friendly helpful it was really straightforward. Can't tell you have great that feeling is after waiting so long!

Its great to see some good news on the Expat Site, we got out AOR from London in Aug 2010 so hopefully we might be hearing soon.
