Hi all,
I hope I am posting in the right forum!
My husband is from Northern Ireland, and I am living in Ottawa, Ontario. ( I should say we are living!)
Ok, here is our story:
I met Wil, online in January 2000, met him in real life in Thunder Bay first time in July 2000 (he was working there, it was a joint program between the south and the north of Ireland to work in Canada). In December 2000, the third to be precise, he came back to live with me. He had a visitor record valid for 6 months, then he got a student visa. We got married on October 20th, 2001. His mom, dad and sisters, my mom and friends were there.
He finished his degree in November 2002 (in networking and programming). Since then he is on a visitor record again.
I have a good work that pays good, but sadly, I was on sick leave because of a burn out for a while, and because of that, it took us till April 2003 to have the spare money (1,525$ for sponshorship and apply for permanent residence).

Here is where it gets a bit nuts...
We send the sponshorship and immigration package I think the fifth of May. About 2 weeks later, I realised, doing some more reading, that we forget to send 8 pictures of him. We called CIC, and then the agent told us: If you are applying from within Canada, you filled up the wrong forms and it was sent to the wrong office. And he was right. We filled the forms that we would have filled, if Wil was outside Canada, and these are being process in Mississauga Ontario. So the agent told us: send them a fax, tell them you are withdrawl your application at this time, that you submit the wrong forms and that you will submit the right one shortly. Which we did. And at the same time, we submit the extension for his visitor record, since its expired June 30th.
A week after this, we received the package back from Mississauga, because we were missing the pictures, and it did not stated which Visa Office from abroad we want his application to be process. Obviously, they did not received our fax.
We called back the CIC call center, and explain again our situation, to another agent. Told us like the other one, to fill the right forms, take a copy of the fee receipt (because Mississauga did not return the receipt, of course).
So, we filled up the right forms this time. Applying from WITHIN Canada. We took a xerox copy of the receipt and explaining what happenend, and that we did pay the fees. And we sent everything to Vegreville, Alberta.
NOW, we are waiting to hear about this sponsorship/permanence residence application. We are hoping the officer that will work on our case will not get all confuse by the mistakes we previously did.
And we are STRESS out. We love each other. We are married for love. We want to build a family and we feel like we have a big knife over our head. As of today, we still have not received any news. I do not want to check our online status. I am scare. I know, I am behaving like an ostrich (head hiding in the sand).
Do you think we have commit a mistake that will really keep on dragging us? Or we should have more faith?
I do not know what to expect here, I am usually a really logical person, but when emotions are involve, it is are to stay logical.
Anyway, any words of wisdom or knowledges would be really appreciate,
Thanks for your time,
LN

We applied in early August 2002 (that's what e-client says however we
applied in June) and they say that they started processing it end of august
2002.... then we hear nothing..... till may this year they say started
processing may 23,2003... and on same day they say they sent out AIP.... so
i guess it takes awile to hear from them ... patience.... I hope yours gets
started much faster than ours did... we hired somebody and it doesn't speed
anything up .... and especially if they are 1/2 a country away cause there
is all the mailings through the middle person that slows things down...
I know the feeling of worry etc.... we have been there and still are
worrying ... and prolly will keep worrying till we actually have his PR.
(mind you i'm a major worry wart I can worry over everything LOL)
Good Luck to you
