I'm over here on a WP and I applied around the end of July last year. I just sent off my passport off for the final visa... so around 7 months.. but maybe faster as they screwed up my RCMP check which delayed everything.

We had already applied for PR back in Aug 2005 and one week after we landed in Jan 2007, the CHC wrote to us and asked us to submit updated paperwork. Over the following months we got new Police Checks and finally had our medicals done.

We had a bit of a wait for medicals and x-rays, then one blood test had to be redone at our local hospital but finally, in Sept 2007 our PR visas come through.

In October we left Canada for a week in Orlando and upon our return we officially landed as Canadian PRs. About 4 weeks later our PR cards arrived

I didn't know you could apply to Vegreville for PR?

In-Canada process applies only to sponsored spouses and common-law partners.

There is no in-Canada process for economic classes, including Skilled Workers. Everybody in these classes must apply through proper visa post abroad, even if living and working in Canada on temporary work permit.

Assuming you're applying through London with arranged employment (I'm sure we've had this discussion before) anything upwards of four months is possible.

If your application is complete and well documented with no further complications I can't see why it would take longer than that. CHC London seem to start working on them as soon as they get them.

I've been working in Canada for over a year and was led to believe I could (technically) apply through Buffalo.

Yes you and I have. I'm interested in hearing from others as well.

You can, but it will take longer than London if you have arranged employment as Buffalo don't fast-track SW applications.

Ok, London calling then!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for four months- in my head I've budgeted a year.

Buffalo is in US my friend, thus applying through Buffalo is not an in-Canada application process.

And as bazzz already stated you'll be much better off (and at least 12 to 20+ months faster) through London, providing that you are Brit or a citizen of the country within CHC London jurisdiction.

Sorry- by in-canada i meant applying whilst physically in-canada.

Yes I am English- for once that has proven useful for something.

Thanks all for replies.
