Default Waiting for PR Card...bad news

I am writing this for peoples information as well as to collect expert
opinions about it.

I landed before June 2002. I applied for pr card in the last week of
July. Was expecting to receive my card in October. I also had to go to
backhome country. Today I called the call centre and requested for my
card status. The officer said we can't tell you the status before 8
weeks. I said yeah its been 8 weeks since i applied. Then she said "no
we would tell you the status after 9 weeks". I said If you calculate
my days its been almost 9 weeks since i applied. I assumed that the
officer or the department is using delaying tactics. Then I requested
her to please let me know because I am in emergency and I have to
receive my card as soon as possible as I have some problems. Then she
said, ok I will put a note to NS to continue your process. Right after
one hours they called me back. I was not present and I returned the
call to the call centre.
I was happy that they might have accpeted my request.

They told me that we have sent your application back with a letter,
because there is a space in your name in the landing documents and you
need to put a space in your first name. Infact my passport doesnt have
that space in my name. I was really shocked to hear this news after 9
weeks of my application, because I can only understand my problems.
These imigration office or the PR office even dont try to understand
what human being is and what problems they can face. She said you have
to wait for the letter which can take 3 weeks to reach you. I asked
her if I can make such a non sence correction on phone which can wast
my 3 to 4 weeks(time is money)if I wait for the letter, but she
refused to do so.

I have few questions for the respected experts.

1) Why would the letter take 3 weeks to reach me,where as I think a
letter can reach any where in the country with in 3 to 4 days? They
might know the efficiency of canada post.

2) When I will make the correction and send it back to them, will they
take another 12 weeks, if not how long would it take further.

3) What steps can I take to make the process faster.

4) Can MP of the area help me on humanitarian grounds if I request him
or her to help me out?

I would also like to mention here that, one of my freind received a
letter on 22nd Sept. to collect his pr card on 22nd Sept. Can you
beleive it?

Your comments plzzzzzzzz

Thank you in advance

you are not alone. i have heard too many of these delay stories from friends
and everybody is a furious as you are. no one believes the CIC will be able
to finish processing these PR card by the end of December. it will be a big
headache for CIC. People have to travel, and therefore must have that card.
I think it is too late to request CIC to speed up the process. Maybe people
should get together and request CIC delay the December 31, 2003 deadline.
If they could change the immigration law back and forth like turning the
palm of their hand, they can delay the deadline too.

I'm afraid there might be more bad news for you, the guide for PR card
application says this:

"1. If, in the completion of this application, you become aware of an
error in your name on your Record of Landing (IMM 1000), Confirmation of
Permanent Residence (IMM 5292) or other permanent residence document,
you will have to complete and submit a Request to Amend the Immigration
Record of Landing or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5218) to
have the error corrected before you proceed with this application.
Contact the PR Card Call Centre or visit our Web site
(http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/amend.html) to obtain an
application package."

Thanx Xu, Ilves and other freinds for your interest in the post. Posts
like this can help a person in problem, like a wound is given a first
aid.

Ilves thanx for the suggestion but I think I dont have to make any
change in my name in the Record of landing. I suppose it is written
like it should be. So I will not get curious reading your post. An
other freind who wrote about her butt and stuff like that. I think we
all are helpless. They have their way to do their work. Infact they
are so lazy and careless but we can't do any thing because they must
be having blody reasons for their nonsence demands.

Dear experts this question is from my freind.

I applied for a PR card.Sent them Certified copies of the landing
document and the passport along with the application. After my
application sent I renewed my passport which was expiring with in few
months.
1) Should I inform them about the renewal of my passport? As the
passort copy sent was the one which I landed with. The old passport is
cancelled and returned to me with the new passport attached.

2) Do I need to send them a certified copy of the new passport or can
just tell them the passport No. on phone?

Expert opinion plzzzzzzzz

One week ago I recieved the application sent to me. I made the
correction, writing a letter mentioning that my name is allright as is
on landing paper. And sent it by ungent mail. I called the CIC call
centre one week after having sent my application back to them and
asked them if they have recieved it. She said no, it will take 3 weeks
to reach us, even if you sent it by urgent mail.We consider it as
ordinary mail. She also refused to tell me the status even after 12
weeks. "Sorry sir I cant tell u right now, there is nothing on the
computer".

Dear experts please tell me what should I do now and whom should I ask
my status.

Secondly, will it take an other 12 weeks to have my pr card? Or it is
in process now and will recieve it in few weeks. Really sorry if I am
making silly questions. Your coments plzzzzzzzzzz

The PR card situation in Vancouver has been a big enough mess to make the TV
news several times. On top of it there are inflexibilities in the whole
syustem and you are subject to that now unfortunately. There is little that
you can do to speed up the process because it is just short enough to make
any attempt moot by the time it gets going through, say, your MP. I would
anyway write to the MP or telephone with your complaint but limit it to your
situation and don't include the matter of letters taking three weeks to
reach you.
If you truly must travel then you could apply for a facilitation visa to
permit you to return to Canada but that is a poor second choice to sticking
it out in Canada.

Jim, Thanx alot for your prompt reply. Yes I did visited the MP
office. MP was not there but his representative attended me. She also
contacted the PR card centre. Unfortunatly the MP office also fails to
give me any good news. They simply said, they are so occupied and they
have lots of burden issuing PR cards. Infact the MP office also sent a
letter duly sigend by the MP attached to my forms, requesting the card
centre to help me out. But all invain untill now.
