Wait time for COPR landing @ Service Canada

Wait time for COPR landing @ Service Canada
Hello all,
I received my COPR in the post yesterday and am hoping to 'land' ASAP. I live about 5 hours away from the border & know I can land at a CIC office, I called this morning and the gentleman said it takes 'up to 6 weeks' for them to call me to arrange an appointment. Beyond that, he couldn't tell me if I would then have to wait longer for the actual appointment.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Does it actually take 6 weeks for them to arrange an appointment, and then how much longer is it before you can actually go to the office and land???
My local office is Calgary.

The landing is done at an inland CIC office and yes some appointments are taking up to 8 weeks.

2 days. I faxed the local CIC office and explained the circumstances (my son couldn't land until I had landed and his medical was about to run out) and had an appointment the next day.
