Question Volunteering on a visitor visa?

I'm thinking about taking off to Canada before the end of the year, whether I've got the PR visa or not, to spend some time travelling around to old and new places. Would I be allowed to do any kind of volunteer work while I'm there on a visitor visa?

Volunteering is not very widespread in Norway, so all experiences, hints and tips would be most welcome!

No, you cannot do any work, paid or unpaid, without proper work permit. Exceptions are - telecommuting to your employer outside Canada, volunteering in large charitable organizations (for example being a big brother/sister), etc.

Basic info is here:

More details you'll find in the Immigration Manual here:

Thanks for the info, Andrew!

I was thinking of volunteering in a field that has to do with children, like at a children's hospital, reding for kids at a library or so on, but from your info, I see I'll have to find an organisation to go through, to make it happen.
