Post visitor visa/spousal application

Hello everyone,

I very much need a little help. my boyfriend came to see me in canada/I am a PR/ and we got married. I was told by visa officer that he is legally allowed to stay here untill the date the immigration officer at the airport put underneath the stamp, which was three more months than his visa is valid. now before I was going to send in the spousal application I was told he should have extend it before the date on his visa.
i dont know what to do, shall he apply for extension or restoration. his visa expired few days ago.

Thanks very much.

Validity of visa sticker in the passport is irrelevant - it only states until
what date person may enter Canada. Important is the length of admission granted
at the port of entry (the date put in the passport by examining officer when
entering Canada). If such date didn't pass yet then there is no need for
restoration of status, your husband must only apply for visitor status
extension. But if that date passed already (but not more than within last 90
days) he should apply for restoration of status.

Mr. Miller,

thank you very much.
the date under the stamp in his passport is still valid for another 3.5 months. I just got scared we passed the date since the visa sticker said something else.

thank you very much for your help.

have a great weekend.
