Default Visiting Canada while spousal application in process?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this? We are applying for my husband's spousal visa in the next two weeks (we both live in the UK), but are expected back in Canada in August to attend my best friend's wedding. Should a decision not have been made regarding his visa before then, is he able to enter the country as a visitor with me to attend and then return back to the UK?

Thanks!

No problem in entering as a visitor as long as admissible regardless of application in process. Normal visitor rules would apply.

You are on fire today with the responses - I really appreciate it! Should a decision be made while we are in Canada, will he still have to leave and re-enter? Would it be plausable for me to remain in the country if that was the case?

I cant see any legal reasons though the COPR's would be sent to the UK address. Im pretty sure that you cant activate the PR in Canada as only those in Canada applications can go to their nearest CIC office to activate PR.
In this case you would flagpole to activate PR status i.e. leave Canada
What about all your goods in the UK to be shipped and tying up loose ends.
If you are a citizen you can stay. Just complicates the paper trail and entering goods as a former resident or settler as initially entering as a visitor.
